Project Demo 

Technical sophistication 
In just this first week of development, our game’s features are not fully implemented. We went back and forth a few times before settling on an in-classroom educational program. The basic idea was to take inspiration from predecessors like Kahoot and iClicker to bring about the next-generation in-class quiz/ review experience. This will be brought to life in the form of an AR pet that the students work together to care for. 


We have begun with templates and block models for the various AR aspects we plan to incorporate. We also have a few other features in mind that we would like to add and include in the alpha version of the app before we reach that checkpoint. 


Novelty 
Our program is a fun twist on apps a class might typically use to review material like iClicker. We added elements that encourage engagement with the questions with the goal of improving retention of class content. 


Some of the more novel aspects of our particular program include the cooperation encouraged by mutual care for the “class pet,” as well as the apps focus on getting students to move around and engage with each other, not just the review questions. 


Social impact 
Our goal is to help students who might otherwise struggle with interest or attention to become more engaged in the learning process. The app encourages early and consistent review of class material, which may help those students for whom it is difficult to find the motivation needed to study for their exams. 


XR emphasis 
Part of the program involves a mini-game where the AR class pet interacts with its real-world environment. This is a large part of what makes the experience more engaging. The idea is that encouraging students to get up and move around will make the content more memorable as well as encourage interactions between students in the classroom. 


Financial sustainability 
We are still workshopping our exact financial plan, but one idea we have is to sell the app to educational institutions as a subscription, with different price tiers depending on the number of students being served.
